The Blessing of the Beer and the Tapping of the Keg has become a favorite tradition of the Hibernians and our friends and parade supporters. Join the Ancient Order of Hibernians and their friends at Goodwood Brewing to celebrate the release of a limited edition “Bomber” bottle. This March bomber release is called Blessed Fellow.
It will be a limited release of only 200 bottles. This high-gravity delight has been referred to as “Big Fella’s Boozy Big Brother” and can be enjoyed now or tucked away in the cellar for a stint. A special ceremony will bless the beers at the brewery in preparation for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Parade. In addition to blessing the bombers, Father Joe Fowler will also bless the Goodwood “Big Fella” and Bourbon Barrel Stout kegs heading to O’Shea’s for sale up to and during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Everyone shows up around 5pm or so (Irish time you understand) at the Goodwood Brewery for Father Fowler’s Blessing of the Beer before heading to O’Shea’s on Baxter to continue the celebration.
At O’Shea’s on Baxter (approximately 6:30) we march it in behind a piper and all the Hibernians in single file this is where our Tapping of the Keg party is held. O’Shea’s Executive Chef Scarlett will add her touch to the specials of corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash, shepherds pie and Guinness Stew.
